At the ‘AGM’ of ‘the Normandy Veterans Association’ in London on 31st October 2009, the future structure of the ‘NVA’ was debated.
- Veteran Eddy Slater, l. D’hon., was unanimously re-elected: the National Chairman.
- Peter l. Hodge, (master mariner) relinquished the position of “the Honorary General Secretary” as intended.
- Veteran George Batts, l. D’hon., was unanimously appointed “Honorary General Secretary” and will combine both roles as ‘Secretary’ and his present role as ‘the National Treasurer’.
- The President; Major-General T.A. (Tony’) Richardson., CB., MBE., was unanimously re-elected.
- Vice President: Brigadier David A. T. Baines., MBE, was unanimously re-elected.
- The future superintendance of the ‘NVA’ will be by a smaller ‘steerring-committee’ of five persons.
This will include the above four and; veteran Kenneth Sturdy., Chairman of Torbay Branch no: 36.
- The need of regional representatives was deemed no longer required.
