Never Forget, Never Again
Saturday, 06 June 2009.
Our recent match in Almaty coincided with the 65th anniversary of the D-Day Normandy landings.
To mark the anniversary, FA Chairman Lord David Triesman, joined englandfans members who had travelled to Kazakhstan to lay of a huge St George Cross wreath at Almaty's War Memorial. The wreath, organised by the members themselves, carried the simple message 'Never Forget, Never Again'. The ceremony took place at Panfilov Park, named after the 28th Panfilov Battalion from Kazakhstan that served with distinction during the defence of Moscow in 1941/1942. The event was supported by the British Council Office, the British Embassy in Almaty and the British Kazakhstan Alumni Society.
