I received the following email from "Kitbagmates"
Dear Harm,
This is to let you know we have now raised enough money to send one veteran to Normandy.
In just under one month our members on www.kitbagmates.com and members of the Canadian Legion 94 (Quesnel), together with Jan and I, raised £400 to send a Veteran to the Normandy Beaches. We were thrilled with this, as most of these people are retired servicemen and women too.
Not only that, but a Canadian Legion Jacket is on it's way to me now, courtesy of Jan, for one of the Veteran's to wear, plus I believe a Legion baseball cap.
We aren't a very big site, but our members, were touched to hear that the veteran's were getting a raw deal, as were the Canadian Legion that Jan is a member of in Quesnel.BC
The very essence of the Normandy visit, is a coming together of the various countries who fought alongside each other 65 years ago and here we have the very same again, with Canada coming to the aid of British Veterans once more. I can't tell you how much their generosity means to Jan and I, but as a small military site, we just had to help, with ex Military helping ex Military.
